Mr. Metaxas was born and raised in Crete Greece and came into the hotel industry as the son of Nikos Metaxas, the founder of the Maris Hotel chain. Having graduated from David Speiser’s Hotelberufsfachschule in Germany, Mr. Andreas Metaxas joined the family business serving in several managerial capacities before assuming the position of Managing Director in 1999.
In the early part of 2004, Mr. Andreas Metaxas conceived the idea for the establishment of Minoan International College (an English speaking college – formerly TRINITY International School of Tourism Management). As Managing Director of Maris Hotels, Mr. Metaxas had come to understand full well the problems in filling the various managerial roles that large and growing hospitality and tourism operations require.
The school he envisioned would graduate potential managers with second-to-none academic qualifications and the practical experience necessary for them to secure managerial career paths in the tourist and hospitality industry of the 21st century.
Mr. Metaxas continues to be an inspiration for MIC and the tourist industry of Crete Greece.
