Graduation with Honors
Those students who have achieved a Cumulative Index (CI) of 3.5 or above, after completion of all their class requirements, are recognized as having completed their programs of study with honors. Matriculated graduating students qualify for three levels of academic honor as follows:
- summa cum laude, i.e. with highest distinction, awarded to students whose cumulative grade index (CI) is at least 3.8.
- magna cum laude, i.e. with great distinction awarded to students whose CI is at least 3.5.
- cum laude, i.e. with distinction awarded to students whose CI is at least 3.2.
Two graduating students are also chosen each academic year as the valedictorian and the salutatorian for the commencement exercises. The two students with the highest grade point average are awarded these distinctions. In the event of identical GPA or CI, the Academic Review Committee of MIC awards these distinctions by considering additional academic criteria.
