Change of Final Grade 

Students have the right to apply for a change in a final grade if they have strong and substantiated reasons to believe that the final grade assigned to them in a particular course does not reflect their academic performance in the course. In this case students must fill a Request for Change of Grade form at the office of the Registrar. The Registrar then, must forward the form to the appropriate faculty member. If the requested change of grade has been approved, the faculty member enters the change on the form, has it countersigned by the Academic Dean and returns it to the Office of the Registrar. The Registrar then enters the change in the student’s record and notifies the student of the change. 

Faculty members who initiate such a change must fill a Change in Grade form, including the reason for such a change, have the form countersigned by the Academic Dean and forward the completed form to the Office of the Registrar.  The Registrar then, processes the change and notifies the student. If the faculty member reaffirms the final grade, the student has the right to appeal to MIC's Academic Review Committee by filing a petition with the Office of the Registrar. The Office of the Registrar forwards the pertinent materials to the Academic Review Committee and notifies the faculty member accordingly. A meeting is then scheduled at a time convenient to all so that both parties may present their cases. The Academic Review Committee submits its decision and reasons for its judgment in writing to the office of the Registrar. The Committee’s decision is final.
